Curriculum Framework
Core subjects, interdisciplinary learning, skill development, and research & inquiry.
Students engage in a comprehensive curriculum spanning eight subject areas:
At Asperion International Finishing School, all students engage deeply with the study of English, primarily through the MYP Language and Literature programme. English is positioned as the central language of academic inquiry, communication, and expression. Where appropriate and feasible, students may also study Language and Literature in other languages supported by the school, provided they possess sufficient proficiency to participate meaningfully in the programme.
MYP Language and Literature at Asperion develops strong linguistic, analytical, and communicative competencies that support interdisciplinary learning across subjects. Students build proficiency across six interconnected domains, listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and presenting, both independently and collaboratively.
The course offers a balanced exploration of literary and non-literary texts across genres, cultures, and historical periods, including works of world literature. Through critical engagement with texts, students gain insights into moral, social, political, cultural, economic, and environmental perspectives. They learn to form informed opinions, make reasoned decisions, and engage in ethical reflection.
The programme aims to help students use language as a powerful tool for thinking, creativity, reflection, and social interaction; develop critical and imaginative responses to texts; explore language across multiple media and contexts; and cultivate a sustained appreciation for reading. Students also examine personal, local, and global cultures through literature and authentic communication tasks.

Assessment & Evaluation
Assessment at Asperion International Finishing School is designed to support learning, not merely measure it. The MYP framework promotes a thoughtful balance between formative assessments (ongoing checks for understanding) and summative assessments (evaluations of learning at the end of a unit). Students demonstrate their understanding through varied tasks that engage higher order thinking, inquiry, creativity, and real world application. Assessment approaches include teacher evaluation, peer and group feedback, and structured self-reflection, enabling students to take ownership of their progress.
MYP assessment is criterion referenced rather than comparative. Student achievement is measured against clearly defined international standards set by the IB. Each subject has four assessment criteria, and students receive a level of achievement for each criterion (1–8). The sum of the four criteria produces an overall score; final grades reflect the descriptor that best matches the student’s demonstrated level of achievement over time. In MYP Year 5, students may earn formal IB recognition through external assessment (on-screen examinations, ePortfolios, and the Personal Project).
